Here is a very special older weaving with soft colors and an especially soft hand feel. It has been washed in water a few times in it’s life, which has lightened the reds and resulted in their bleeding a pink hue into the neighboring cream-colored fields, giving the overall look of the weaving a slightly pinkish aspect which is more pronounced on one side than the other. Features unique hourglass pattern at the ends, and many sought-after “lazy lines” throughout the piece (sometimes in solid colored areas, a weaver inserted a diagonal “break” in her fabric in order to avoid reaching across the entire fabric while weaving, resulting in short diagonal lines across the solid colors that are unique to Navajo textiles). The size is 37” x 65”… please use a tape measure and verify that this size will work in the space that you intend it for. The overall condition is good for its age, with some minor exceptions, one being a break in one of the warp threads that results in a 1.5” separation… seen in the photos. There are a few small snags and the corner tassels are largely missing, save two at two corners. I wish you could feel how soft this one is; time has brought about a lovely mellowness to this beautiful weaving… it is one that deserves a place in your collection! This weaving is clean, and having been stored in an airtight container for the past few years, will smell only of wool and perhaps a touch of cedar. The wrinkles that show in the photographs are due to storage and will relax after it is put into use.
